I was reviewing the GA videos in preparation for my next cycle and I notcied that on the leg swoops it didn't look like an effort was being made to keep both hands on the ground. When I started BER, I did the swoops like in the GA video, but then came across a youtube video where the swoop was demonstrated with an emphasis on keeping both hands on the ground. I found this made the exercise much more intense.

Does it really matter? Is that like a "mini" spophistication thing? Something to add on once the basic level is going well, but before moving up to the other levels?

Thanks!

It depends on what you want to emphasize. Keeping the hands in contact with the ground will require you to open the hip more (the hip will have to move through a slightly larger range of motion). Or you can put less focus on the hands and allow them to come up if you want to emphasize accessing stored elastic energy (SEE) and coordination (effort-free movement). The ability to access SEE is a prime attribute of athleticism – hence the inclusion of this version in the General Altheticism circuit.

You'll also find the intensity level is subjective – it really depends on what you're better at.
